Psychic Readings by Kathleen

Possessing a religious attitude towards life doesn’t mean following a path towards redemption or salvation or even necessarily to being a member of a religious institution.  It means having an openness to wonder, awe, fear, and reverence to those forces that exist outside our control.  These powers have been named Fate, Destiny or Soul Journey.

A religious attitude means we wait, watch and attend to the messages that come in patterns such as being in a particular place at just the right time, meeting someone who steers us in an unpredictable direction.  The messages might be the unexpected appearance of work or money or inspiration just when we need it the most.  These are the patterns that give meaning to our experiences.

One beautiful April day in 1989, I was having lunch in a Hunan Restaurant in San Francisco contemplating returning home to Canada.  I had been living in San Francisco for more than two years but a few odd events had made me wonder if the time was nigh to go home.  I cracked open the fortune cookie on the plate in front of me and it read, “You need a new environment.  Try Canada!”  I was so shocked I burst out laughing and crying at the same time. Of course when I recovered everyone in the restaurant was staring at me appalled.  In that moment I couldn’t care less.  I had been granted a sacred gift from the Gods.  I knew then I would be returning home within a couple of months.  My time in San Francisco was coming to a close (albeit an acutely painful awareness!) and the next journey of my life was about to begin.  I returned home at the end of the graduate term and within six weeks met the love of my life.

Most modern people are preoccupied with getting and spending, constantly fretting and struggling to manipulate external reality so that it goes their way.  A religious attitude is a completely opposite way of being.  It’s waiting and watching for the slender light-bringing threads, listening attentively, dialoguing with dreams, visions and synchronicity.  Contemplating the larger patterns of your life and living accordingly.  It means not taking the easy road, or a road that conforms to any social normalcy.  When I announced to my friends in San Francisco that I was returning home because it was told to me in a fortune cookie, they thought I had completely gone mad.

I knew however, that I was listening to the Hand of Fate.  I felt so honoured that She found it in her celestial heart to be so direct!  She undoubtedly recognized that it was going to take a very special bang on the head to get through since She had already tried a few other more subtle methods to no avail.

When you are feeling restless, struggling with loneliness and alienation, searching desperately for person meaning and values in a secular culture, know spirit is always close and is furiously passing along messages to you to help!  You just have to pay attention and honour the communication with action.  That’s the big challenge.  Can you go against the flow? Can you do what everyone else will consider a sign that you are completely off your rocker? Can you live with the inevitable criticism and ridicule?  When you are at the end of your earthly existence, will any of that matter? Living religiously means living as if today is the last day of your life, not the first.

The mystery is this:  there is one right thing and only one right thing to do at every moment.  We can either follow or resist the slender light-bringing threads.  If one works faithfully and patiently at this task of balancing heaven and earth, eventually one may even realize something more remarkable:  that the two worlds are in fact one.

Intermediate Tarot Workshop

Sunday November 7 9:30 - 4:30 at Delta Inn in downtown Kitchener.  There are a few spots still open in this workshop.
Cost is $189 for the day.  This workshop is for those who have a fair familiarity with the Tarot and/or have completed my Introductory to the Tarot. It also is a great refresher for those of you who do readings occasionally and are feeling a little rusty.

Quote:

“I had a made a decision to try and live my life by the First Rule.  I began testing each decision, both the large ones and the small, everyday ones, by the criteria of truth, beauty, health, happiness, and light.  Abiding by the First Rule proved to be a fulcrum that enabled me to make decisions I could not have expected from myself before.  Sometimes these decisions were very difficult, but always they proved right.  Unfortunately, for the vast majority, it remained totally beyond the sphere on which their daily life was focused. The place of their Spirit Lake was completely consumed by outer needs.  This seemed to burn up their life energy completely, not leaving space for even the smallest amount of inner exploration.  I became aware that this caused great suffering.  Through the eyes of my own Spirit Twin, I saw how many mental problems an diseases resulted from the body’s unconscious but nonetheless powerful attempts to shift its attention toward its inner needs.  Unfortunately, most people continued to fight against this important transfer of energy, even in the face of serious distress, stubbornly resisting it in order to maintain their old, incompletely patterns of living.”
